Christian Counselling

There are many personal challenges we have in life. As individuals, we can struggle with inner and outer pressures.  There are many times we are overwhelmed by life. This does not mean we are damaged or broken; it simply means we have reached our human limitations. This can be a pivotal moment in our lives if we are willing to acknowledge that we need help beyond ourselves.

That help can come from God. He is not a higher power because a “power” cannot hear, or help. He is a person with infinite love and the greatest compassion for us. We get our nature from Him – our desire to love and be loved, to be connected to others. He is relational, as are we.

We were never intended to do life alone. Just as the saying goes, “it takes a community to raise a child,” it also takes a community for all of us to survive and thrive in life. Reaching out for help is not a sign of weakness or failure – it is a sign of strength and wisdom. There is a proverb that says, “In the counsel of many there is safety.” That is why Christian counselling matters.

Christian counselling is very different than other forms of counselling. It integrates a biblical understanding of identity and human need with the science around human behavior and thought. Christian counselling provides principles and concepts around conflict, relationship breakdown, emotional struggles, and mental health challenges.

Some of the common issues that people struggle with are: despair, depression, sadness, sorrow, fear, anxiety, anger, resentment, grief, loss, frustration, confusion, powerlessness, inadequacy, low self-esteem and insecurity. We all experience these emotions, but sometimes we get stuck in them.  The Bible addressed all of these concerns, and scientific studies confirm what the Bible has already advised.

It is not my intention as a counsellor to judge you, bash you with the Bible, or to present a God who is harsh, punitive or angry, but rather to lead you toward a loving heavenly Father who is ready and willing to help you heal your heart and your relationships.

As a professionally trained counsellor, we can offer contemporary and evidence-based practices which have been filtered and aligned with biblical and Christian values.
